[ Brooklyn NY * Greenpoint area * a bustling Polish neighborhood that

vanishes at night but noisily carries on during the day with the occasional

surprise parade tooting tubas and giving away bread (?). Lots of industrial

spaces, smelly recycling and garbage refineries, at least ten competing

delis within two blocks, and a bunch of noisy busses that I wish would just

stop running; on the fringe of Williamsburg * home of indie rock, lots of

artists, pizza (mostly bad), great bars with a mix of hometown and indie

hipster coolness, and weird 24 hour Mexican diners ]

[ Ah, the desk… the laminate wood and metal thing fromIkea means a lot to me because carried it up three flightsof stairs by myself. I'm pretty darn proud. There's not muchto look at here, except for my plant... Okay, that's notexciting either. Although, I should add that the plant isgrowing at a rapid rate and may someday eat me alive. I'm anxiously anticipating that moment.... ]

[ Here it is, demonic man-eating plant ]

[ This is a shot of my growing "HOMIE" collection which resides atop my computer. You can get them for 50 cents at the laundromat, grocery store, or deli. When I'm procrastinating at the computer, I like to rearrange them into different "cliques." ]

[ This is a shot of another view from my desk, into my bedroom. I got the table out of the trash and refinished it. The African carving was created for a RISD 3D freshman foundation class. Sadly, one of his arms is missing ]

[ I SHOULD be embarrassed ]

[ Okay okay, I'll show one messy shot ONLY. This is whereI paint. It also doubles as my "dining room" but obviously not when a project is due. Usually at least one disaster strikes while working on an illustration. I'm usually frantic about the whole thing. Everything gets so messy...paint falls on the floor, papers all over the place, books, reference materials. I can't stand when things get this bad, but it happens every time. Then the worst occurs -- usually at least once, I knock something over. Just yesterday it was a container of dirty paint water. It flew off the table and spilled all over the walls, my illustration, books that are on loan, you name it. At least it wasn't coffee, because that's harder to clean up ]

[ It's such a relief when a project is over and I can clean itup! I also NEVER put the tops on the tubes of paint, forsome reason. It's just too hard a task to accomplish. I alsostart out with a palette, but end up using the side of my illustration as a palette instead ]

[ So this is the "living area." I sit on the couch, sketchpictures, and watch TV. It's NYC, there's not a lot of space, so everything has a dual purpose. Sometimes I listen to music. Okay, most of the time I listen to music. My collection includes lots of indie rock/pop, a little bit of funk, soul, electronica, some old school hip-hop... bluegrass/ country (the good kind), jazz, drum and bass, and a bit of punk rock for flavor ]

[ These are some of my favorite objects inmy work area. I know, it's a weird selection. I like to collect antique things. From left toright: bottles, an old scale, a wooden carvingI made (got a lot of blisters on that one) agiant pencil I carved out of a tree I cut down,a photo of aguy (no, I have no idea who heis), a sock guy my grandma made me whenI was little, an old medicine bottle w/the stuff still in i a photo of my grandma and mom ]
